Salesforce Data Engineer
Cirrius Solutions is a rapidly growing Salesforce implementation consulting partner with a collaborative team-based approach for project delivery. We are organized into consulting pods of 4-6 consultants who work together on each project. Our pod model approach allows us to build strong cohesive teams that provide better value to clients and a better experience to our employees.
About the role
The Salesforce Data Engineer is the migration execution owner on our engagements. You will take the data model, migration strategy, and governance standards set by the Data Architect and turn them into a concrete, repeatable migration process—build the pipelines, run the load cycles, validate the results, and lead the pod through cutover. This is a hands-on delivery role that requires deep, practical experience moving large volumes of data into Salesforce and a solid working knowledge of modern cloud data tooling.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute the source-to-target mapping defined with the Data Architect, translating it into working ETL/ELT pipelines
- Lead data cleansing, deduplication, and validation cycles ahead of each load, and troubleshoot data quality issues as they surface
- Plan and run mock loads, full-load cycles, and cutover, coordinating timing and sequencing with the delivery pod and client stakeholders
- Implement and tune large-volume load jobs against Salesforce, applying LDV best practices (batching, API selection, indexing-aware queries, sequencing) to keep loads performant and within governor limits
- Build and maintain the pipelines that move data between legacy sources, Salesforce, and the Databricks lakehouse, following the integration and zero-copy/federation patterns the Data Architect has designed
- Apply the data governance, stewardship, and survivorship rules defined by the Data Architect during migration, flagging gaps or edge cases back to the architect
- Maintain migration documentation—mapping specs, transformation logic, load run books, exception logs, and validation results—so the process is auditable and repeatable
- Support post-go-live data reconciliation, archiving, and cleanup activities
- Partner with the Data Architect, delivery pod, and client data teams; surface migration risks, blockers, and data quality findings early and clearly
- Mentor junior team members on migration tooling and best practices where needed
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce data migration experience on enterprise-scale implementations
- Salesforce Certified Administrator; Data Architect or Application Architect certification a plus
- Strong working knowledge of Salesforce data modeling—standard/custom objects, relationships, and how structure affects migration approach
- Practical ETL/ELT experience: building and running data load pipelines, source-to-target mapping, cleansing, deduplication, and validation at scale
- Experience with Salesforce data load tooling (Data Loader, Bulk API, Bulk API 2.0) and troubleshooting large-volume load issues
- Understanding of Large Data Volume (LDV) considerations—indexing, selective queries, batching strategy, and governor limits
- Working knowledge of SQL and data transformation logic
- Exposure to cloud data platforms or lakehouse environments (Databricks preferred) and moving data between Salesforce and external systems
- Familiarity with integration patterns (REST/Bulk APIs, Platform Events, Change Data Capture) as they relate to migration and data sync
- Strong attention to detail and comfort owning validation and sign-off on data accuracy before and after cutover
- Clear communicator, able to explain data quality issues and migration status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to support one or more concurrent migration workstreams across engagements
Skills
- Experience with ETL/data pipeline tooling (e.g., MuleSoft, Informatica, Talend, dbt, or Fivetran)
- Familiarity with Databricks (Delta Lake, notebooks, Spark) or other cloud data warehouse/lakehouse platforms
- Experience with data governance or MDM concepts (stewardship, survivorship rules, reference data)
- Salesforce Certified Data Architect or Data Cloud Consultant
- Experience with Shield Platform Encryption or regulatory/compliance-driven migrations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
- Scripting experience (Python, Apex) for custom transformation or validation logic
Benefits
- 100% remote work—work from anywhere
- Competitive pay and benefits packages
- Generous PTO
- Tailor-made talent development plans with each pod’s Team Technical Lead to drive long-term success
- Support for the Pledge 1% program, allowing you to use your time to make a difference
- Strong support for veterans and military spouses—over 33% of hires since 2019 have come from these communities
