Our 12-month Sales Trainee Program (STP) offers a unique opportunity for early career professionals to kickstart a rewarding career path in sales. The program begins on September 14th, 2026, and is designed to accelerate your career in sales through guided development, on-the-job learning, and exposure to different areas of the business.

What to expect

  • Learn: Participate in workshops, programs, and training sessions to enhance your sales skills, industry knowledge, and understanding of Ferguson’s products, services, sales techniques, and processes.
  • Shadow: Observe experienced sales professionals to learn client interactions, sales strategies, negotiation techniques, and the full sales process from prospecting to closing deals, including customer relationship management and post-sale support.
  • Develop: Actively seek feedback from mentors, supervisors, and peers; participate in performance evaluations to track progress, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and set professional development goals.

Program Graduation

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will transition into one of several sales destination roles. Final placement is based on a combination of individual preferences and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the sales team in tasks such as outlining project tasks and timelines, prospecting for new leads, and handling customer inquiries.
  • Assist in the development of sales proposals, contracts, and other documentation required for closing deals.
  • Support sales projects and initiatives by coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs, address inquiries, and provide information about products or services.
  • Capture feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Take the initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies that can contribute to your success in the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; 1-3 years of experience accepted in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong desire to be in a sales-focused role and to learn about products, services, sales technologies, and processes at Ferguson.
  • Self-motivated with a consistent track record of driving results.
  • Natural ability to assist customers and address their needs effectively.
  • Flexibility and openness to change.
  • Previous professional experiences or internships in Sales (preferred).
