Our 12-month Sales Trainee Program (STP) offers a unique opportunity for early career professionals to kickstart a rewarding career path in sales. Since 1953, Ferguson has been a source of quality supplies for a variety of industries, including Commercial/Mechanical, Facilities Supply, Fire and Fabrication, HVAC, Industrial, Residential Trade, Residential Building and Remodel, Waterworks, and Residential Digital Commerce.
As a Fortune 500 company with approximately 36,000 associates across 1,700 locations, Ferguson is dedicated to making customers’ complex projects simple, successful, and sustainable. The program begins on September 14th, 2026.
What to expect
The Sales Trainee Program is designed to accelerate your career in sales through guided development and on-the-job learning. Over 12 months, you will:
- Participate in workshops, programs, and learning opportunities to enhance sales skills and industry knowledge.
- Engage in training sessions to understand the company’s products, services, sales techniques, and processes.
- Shadow experienced sales professionals to observe client interactions, sales strategies, and negotiation techniques.
- Actively seek feedback from mentors, supervisors, and peers to track progress and set professional development goals.

Program Graduation
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will transition into one of several sales destination roles. Final placement is based on individual preferences and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Support the sales team in tasks such as outlining project timelines, prospecting for new leads, and handling customer inquiries.
- Assist in developing sales proposals, contracts, and other documentation required for closing deals.
- Coordinate sales projects, track progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Interact with customers to understand their needs, address inquiries, and provide product or service information.
- Capture customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Take initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; 1-3 years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- Strong desire to work in a sales-focused role and learn about products, services, sales technologies, and processes.
- Self-motivated with a consistent track record of driving results.
- Natural ability to assist customers and address their needs effectively.
- Flexibility and openness to change.
- Previous professional experience or internships in sales are preferred.
