About the role
We are seeking a motivated and commercially driven professional to join our Houston office and help clients navigate the increasingly complex world of environmental commodities. As a Sales Trader – Carbon Compliance, you will combine market expertise, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of compliance carbon markets to help shape the future of emissions trading.
Responsibilities
- Originating, structuring, and executing transactions within regulated carbon markets across North America
- Building and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Monitoring carbon market regulations, policy developments, and pricing trends
- Identifying and executing carbon compliance trading opportunities
- Communicating daily with trading, risk, operations, and management teams
- Engaging with counterparties to understand market needs and commercial objectives
- Transforming market intelligence into actionable trading opportunities
- Conducting market research across carbon and environmental commodity markets
- Contributing to business development and growth initiatives
- Assisting with post-trade logistics and transaction management
- Supporting product development efforts based on regulatory and market developments
- Representing the company at industry conferences, workshops, and stakeholder events
Requirements
- Fluent in English; another language is a plus
- Authorized to work in the United States of America
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, economics, finance, business administration or related discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in carbon markets, environmental commodities, energy markets, emissions trading, sales trading, or a related field
- Strong understanding of North American carbon compliance programs
- Experience with environmental commodity trading is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect regulatory developments to commercial opportunities
- Willing to relocate to Houston, Texas
