About the role
A Sales Tax Consultant works within a team to identify sales and use tax savings opportunities for clients. Researching sales tax issues, data entry, and manipulation are key components of everyday activities. The Sales Tax Consultant works with team members on a variety of tasks to provide client engagement support and coordination, ensures all support needs are met, and assists their manager with both engagement and non-engagement tasks.
Responsibilities
- Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Travel to client locations to gather and copy tax returns, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation.
- Review documentation and research issues.
- Data manipulation and data entry.
- Draft filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies.
- Maintain calendar appointments to ensure deadlines are met and proper client service is delivered.
- Create files for clients and projects utilizing Microsoft® Excel and Access.
- Utilize strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
- Multitask and change direction due to new priorities.
- Work effectively in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
- Handle tasks in a timely fashion and with accuracy.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude, especially when working with clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or Master’s in Business.
- Preferably a minimum of 9 credit hours in accounting.
- Relevant and previous sales and use tax work experience preferred, but not required.
