Sales Support Coordinator
About the role
The Sales Support Specialist provides outstanding customer service and post-sales support to residential and commercial building product customers. This role focuses on strengthening long-term client relationships, supporting the outside sales team, managing product and inventory-related tasks, and contributing to sales growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service and post-sales support to ensure client satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Answer incoming calls from existing clients and proactively make outbound calls to provide order status updates and address any issues that may arise.
- Support the outside sales team with client correspondence, follow-up communications, and coordination of customer needs.
- Manage assigned product responsibilities, including monitoring inventory levels, assisting with indirect product sourcing, and managing inventory turns.
- Promote designated products to inside sales employees and assist in developing product pricing strategies and promotional literature.
- Set personal sales quotas and work consistently toward meeting or exceeding these targets.
- Maintain accurate data entry and documentation related to orders, customer interactions, and sales activities.
- Use ERP systems and Excel to track orders, inventory, and customer information, and to support sales reporting and analysis.
- Communicate clearly and professionally via email and phone, ensuring timely responses and honest, transparent communication with customers.
- Plan and manage daily activities as a self-starter, creating and executing a personal plan of action to meet customer and business needs.
- Identify key customer issues during telephone conversations, evaluate relevant facts, and recommend appropriate plans of action to resolve concerns.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through positive interactions and consistent follow-through.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth logistics, accurate order fulfillment, and timely delivery of products.
- Demonstrate a competitive, results-focused mindset and an internal drive to perform at a high level.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience in sales support or customer service, preferably in a business-to-business environment.
- 1–3 years of sales experience with a strong comfort level on the telephone and honest, direct communication.
- Experience in sales support, logistics, and data entry.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional email correspondence and confident phone skills.
- Working-level knowledge of account management, customer support, and customer service practices.
- Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to set and work toward sales quotas and performance targets.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and relevant sales systems technology.
- Demonstrated ability to establish strong relationships through positive interaction and consistent customer follow-up.
- Comfortable making frequent calls to existing clients and discussing orders, issues, and next steps.
- Ability to identify key customer issues, evaluate facts, and recommend appropriate plans of action.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Communication, or an equivalent field is preferred.
- Previous experience in the construction or home building industry, or a strong ability and willingness to learn this industry.
- Competitive drive and results-focused mindset, with an understanding of the importance of sales performance.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage one’s own day and independently create and execute a plan of action.

Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in Rockaway, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will operate in a professional office environment within a growing wholesale distribution business that serves customers nationwide. The position involves frequent phone and email communication with clients and close collaboration with inside and outside sales teams. You will regularly use ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and the Microsoft Office Suite to manage orders, inventory, and customer information. The environment is fast-paced, results-oriented, and supportive of individuals who take initiative, demonstrate strong follow-through, and are eager to grow their skills and potentially move into a permanent position.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $28.00 – $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
