About the role
We are seeking a high-performing Sales Representative to drive sales and achieve business objectives within our Industrial Distribution business unit, covering the Iowa and Nebraska territories. Ideal candidates will reside in the territory, preferably in Des Moines, IA or Omaha, NE.
Responsibilities
- Achieve technical proficiency in Schaeffler’s product portfolio.
- Continuously evaluate and update market potential and competitive landscape for Schaeffler products within the assigned territory.
- Develop comprehensive insight into customer businesses, linking customer success to the use of Schaeffler products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships within the distributor and end-customer contact network.
- Conduct regular travel within the territory to engage distributors and end customers.
- Sustain existing business through strong commercial sales skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Generate new business by understanding customer decision factors, aligning them with Schaeffler strengths, and presenting compelling value propositions.
- Respond to customer inquiries and process orders promptly and professionally.
- Regularly review and utilize sales reports, including open orders, sales statistics, and open quotes.
- Maintain diligent use of Schaeffler's CRM system, Salesforce, including visit reports and opportunity logging.
- Deliver impactful customer presentations to showcase Schaeffler products, services, and engineered solutions.
- Submit a weekly business summary report to Sales Management and Product Line Staff.
- Participate in industry seminars, trade shows, and networking events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Engineering, Mechanical, Business, Marketing, or Operations.
- Preferably 2+ years of experience selling engineered components to distributors or OEMs.
- Demonstrated drive for results and an aptitude for building relationships.
- Ability to influence leadership decisions, strong ethics, and adaptability in complex environments.
- Strong business acumen; results oriented.
- Proficient in CRM software and systems (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% as required.
- Valid drivers license required.
