Key Responsibilities
- Sources new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calling and email contact.
- Develops and maintains relationships with current and prospective customers in order to address their needs and requirements.
- Maintains rapport with key accounts through regular contact including site visits to better understand specific needs and anticipate new opportunities.
- Provides product, promotion and pricing information per customer request, answering inquiries, selecting and forwarding appropriate material.
- Finalizes sales agreements according to established targets and goals.
- Researches accounts, identifies key decision makers in order to generate interest in company products and services.
- Maintains and develops a database of prospects within assigned territory.
- Taeks part in building the opportunity pipeline and closing deals with channel partners.
- Maintains customer database in SalesForce (SF) ensuring customer profile and all related fields are current.
- Routes qualified opportunities to appropriate sales executives for further development and closure.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and industry related programs.
Position Specifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the maritime logistics or motor carrier industry.
- Functional experience: sales, customer service related functions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution: preferred majors include business administration, maritime, international transportation, marketing / communications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a TWIC card and eRail pass.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Some professional selling training and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to collect, organize and analyze data and to summarize conclusions and recommendations succinctly.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn and apply new systems to our business processes, e.g. a new CRM, a new contract management system.
