Sales Operations Engineer
About the Role
The Systems Integration Sales Operations Engineer (SOE) receives requests for proposals from Account Managers or other Sales channels, then helps determine the appropriate R.A Jones/COESIA/OEM machine solution working with the Systems Integration Application Engineer. The SOE develops the Cost/Pricing Worksheet and prepares the proposal. Upon receiving an order, the SOE prepares the Order Card and conducts the Order Card meeting, handing off the order to the Project Manager. They apply knowledge of R.A Jones and COESIA equipment to provide technical expertise and support to Area Sales Managers and customers for System Integration strategies. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare Cost / Pricing Worksheets supporting Systems Integration including R.A Jones/COESIA/3rd Party equipment
- Acquire “buy-in” from Engineering, Service, and Manufacturing for cost estimates for R.A Jones Equipment
- Identify project risks
- Configure the machine to be quoted based on the RFQ Checklist submitted
- Aid Area Sales Managers with machine capabilities and ballpark pricing for project screening
- Determine concepts and cost estimates for custom machine content with Engineering
- Preliminary review of customer's specifications to identify appropriate stakeholders
- Coordinate review of customer's specifications by Engineering
- Prepare and submit Firm Proposal Approval forms as needed for firm proposals
- Prepare proposals (budget and firm)
- Keep the CRM system current for all assigned Opportunities
- Update and keep current all Cost Worksheet templates and all proposal templates for their assigned machine lines
- Prepare Order Card when a PO is received for a machine they proposed
- Prepare the Order Acknowledgement Letters for orders received that they proposed
- Drive shorter proposal response time from RFQ to proposal
- Drive shorter time from customer PO to Order Card meeting and handoff to Project Management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combined experience with an emphasis on technical selling
- 5+ years of experience in a similar or related role
- Technical knowledge of packaging equipment or related industry
- Blueprint reading skills required
- Strong customer service, leadership, and sales support skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to demonstrate active listening, organized presentation, and effective writing skills
- Persuasive in interactions with others
- Strong working knowledge of computers applications including Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and PowerPoint)
- The ability to effectively utilize CRM tools such as Microsoft Dynamics
- Understanding of commercial terms and ability to negotiate and resolve commercial issues with customers
Qualifications
- Must have safety glasses with side shields and steel toe safety shoes while in the shop
- Some exposure to dust, dirt, and noise
- Willingness to travel to customer and vendor sites on an occasional basis
