About the role
This is a B2C role selling moving and storage services to residential clientele. The Sales Move Consultant solicits transportation services or storage business from homeowners and business establishments, estimating packing, crating, moving, and storage costs for interstate, intrastate, and local relocations, as well as storage transactions involving used household goods.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Company in the prompt and efficient handling of business.
- Write orders for the Company’s services within authorized territory, ensuring compliance with established tariffs, pricing schedules, and Company rules.
- Prepare necessary forms (e.g., survey data, declarations, orders for service, bills of lading) and enter data into administrative systems.
- Develop lists of prospective customers through publications, business organizations, networking groups, real estate agencies, and home sales listings.
- Conduct mailings to potential customers and assist in identifying and collecting prospective customer lists.
- Answer customer inquiries, provide support for registered moves, and resolve customer issues and complaints.
- Examine goods to be moved or stored, estimate cubic footage and shipping space, and prepare pricing proposals for packing, crating, moving, shipping, and delivery.
- Complete OA/DA Surveys accurately and within prescribed time, entering results in “IGC.”
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of actions taken.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of sales experience in the moving industry.
- Beginner-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Intermediate or higher preferred).
- Experience with HubSpot, pipeline management, and closing is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Spends approximately 30% of time in the office and 70% outside.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
