About the Role

As a Sales Manager In Training, the primary function of this position is to develop a deep understanding of sales management by performing the steps in the sales cycle and participating in daily management activities. You will think strategically, recommend process improvements, and learn our business philosophy to ensure the success of the Sales Department at CITY Home.

Pay: $20/hour

Responsibilities

  • Guest Service (Face to Face): Utilize the opportunity system for guest interactions and perform the sales cycle with world-class service. Greet and welcome guests, present and demonstrate products, discuss features and benefits, offer available services (e.g., In-Home Service, Stain Removal), close sales, process orders (e.g., create invoices, schedule deliveries, provide finance options), and answer in-store phone calls to assist guests with questions and concerns.
  • Customer Account Management: Monitor sales and advise customers of any changes. Resolve customer issues, provide after-sale follow-up, and perform customer retention strategies (e.g., thank-you calls, after-sale calls). Monitor the backorder list and update customers accordingly. Document and report customer relationship management activities via information technology systems.
  • Professional Development: Obtain certifications and training related to job performance and product knowledge within a specified period. Use the online Learning Management System (LMS) to gain knowledge and development. Attend Instructor Lead Training (ILT) sessions, review new product information, and learn the AS400 database, inventory, and reporting systems. Learn all tasks related to opening, closing, daily showroom management, and merchandising. Complete assigned personal and team-based projects and activities. Prepare for the next step as a Showroom Manager (SM).
  • Personal Business Development: Initiate contact with non-purchasing guests during promotions and special events. Perform personal business development strategies. Follow up with guests who make appointments and ensure they maintain them. Contact previous customers to sell related or additional products. Generate leads through personal efforts outside of the store environment.
  • Visual Merchandising/Sales Administrative Duties: Perform responsibilities necessary to open and close the store. Maintain price tagging and a clean, organized store environment. Manage showroom merchandising and supplies. Review and update voicemail. Review sales performance data. Participate in inventory and inventory preparation.
  • Team Involvement: Cooperate with all associates to ensure the success of the store. Attend and begin to conduct Ultimate Update meetings to align personal and team efforts with the overall goals of the company.

Requirements

  • Education & Work Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
    • Experience in a related environment (recommended).
  • Work Environment & Schedule:
    • 42.5 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Work in an air-conditioned showroom.
  • Physical & Travel Demands:
    • Prolonged standing and walking.
    • Light lifting when presenting products and merchandise to customers.
  • Technology Requirements:
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Google Suite (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Slides).
