About the Role
Camden’s Sales Managers have overall responsibility for delivering sales excellence across their multifamily portfolio. They foster a high-performing sales culture, create a sense of team purpose, motivation, and accountability while directly supervising the leasing team to drive sales and revenue performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee sales operations at one or more communities, allocating resources based on business needs, including scheduling team members across multiple communities.
- Collaborate with leadership to set and exceed goals for net market rent, revenue, occupancy, new leases, renewals, and customer sentiment scores.
- Motivate the leasing team to capture all leads with a customer-focused mindset and establish accountability for achieving sales goals.
- Develop, train, and manage a high-performing team by fostering a trusting work environment, promoting cooperation, recognizing efforts, and coaching through challenges.
- Maintain an open-door policy to address employee issues and concerns while supporting career path goals.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve sales tools and processes, sharing best practices with peers and leadership.
- Ensure implementation of company initiatives shared by support teams.
- Create weekly and monthly strategies to achieve portfolio goals, leveraging support departments and tools to focus on underperforming metrics.
- Engage in resident retention by maintaining a customer-focused approach and leveraging Camden’s Loyalty Loop program.
- Empower and train the leasing team to overcome objections related to sales, retention, and customer service.
- Serve as a point of escalation for unresolved issues.
- Lead by example to foster a culture of high employee engagement and a commitment to Camden’s mission of improving lives through experiences.
- Communicate effectively with team members through consistent one-on-one check-ins and sales team meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of the industry, competition, and market to gauge portfolio success and surpass competitors.
- Monitor customer relationship management tools and sales performance dashboards to improve sales efficiency and effectiveness.
- Complete administrative tasks, including system-based approvals, in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of leasing experience in residential property management; supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to meet and exceed sales and customer service objectives.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to lead and motivate others.
- Professional demeanor during high-stress situations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative without instruction.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment
- Intermittently sedentary but requires mobility (e.g., climbing stairs) to tour, show, and inspect apartments daily.
- Use of repetitive hand-wrist motions for computer work and writing.
- Works in a typical office setting with daily exposure to outdoor environments (e.g., heat, cold, damp, rain).
- Handles stressful, urgent, novel, and diverse work situations daily.
- Requires emotional stability and personal maturity.
- May work long hours and odd schedules, including weekends.
- Periodic travel by automobile for work-related activities; may require airline travel, out-of-town, or overnight trips.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential for success.
- Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, safety training, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
