Sales Engineer (Paint, Powder Coating & Finishing Systems, Entry-Level Opportunity w/ Eng. Degree)
Location: Remote from East TN, Northern GA and Western SC
Base $50,000-$65,000 + Uncapped Commission + Bonus (Annual Est. $80K-$115K+)
About the role
Our client in the industrial manufacturing solutions industry is looking for a Sales Engineer to cover the Southeast territory (East TN, Northern GA, Western SC & Eastern Alabama). In this role, you will serve as a technical consultant and customer-facing manufacturing specialist, helping customers improve coating and finishing processes through industrial paint, powder coating, and finishing systems. Common product lines include Graco, Binks & Gema.
The ideal candidate has a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline OR hands-on experience supporting industrial paint, powder coating, finishing, fluid handling, pumps, metering/mixing systems, or other industrial process equipment. Travel: On the road 3-4 days per week, including occasional overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer finishing production lines and identify process improvement opportunities
- Recommend industrial paint, powder coating, & finishing equipment based on customer applications
- Partner with sales to support customer meetings, presentations, and technical recommendations
- Conduct equipment demonstrations for customers and manufacturing teams
- Assess existing coating systems and recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements
- Configure coating application equipment and finishing systems based on customer requirements
- Create bills of materials (BOMs) to support customer quotes and proposals
- Assist with implementation, startup, and commissioning of recommended solutions
- Troubleshoot coating application equipment and manufacturing process challenges
- Provide technical training on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices
- Stay current on coating technologies, finishing equipment, and industry trends
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR hands-on fluid handling equipment experience is required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills are required
- Strong customer-facing, consultative communication and relationship-building skills are required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory are required
