Sales Engineer

About the role
As a Sales Engineer at Schindler, you’ll provide technical support on mid and high-rise Modernization elevator projects for existing installations. You’ll serve as the single point of contact for sales during the bid stage, offering guidance on product feasibility, costing of custom features, and value-engineered solutions. Your role will drive project awards and support the Modernization team by improving processes and mentoring Associate Sales Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact for the field organization during the bid phase for all product lines (30%)
- Ensure accurate costing of custom materials and engineering effort (hours) (10%)
- Account for lead-times during bidding to accommodate custom work (5%)
- Provide the sales organization with alternate bid options to drive applications toward standard solutions (10%)
- Consider value-engineered solutions to improve financial performance by understanding commercial impact (20%)
- Provide technical review support to other sales engineers (10%)
- Drive the pre-bid, bid, and award process while teaching the process to those involved (5%)
- Conduct award calls with key stakeholders to ensure accurate results (5%)
- Execute and drive the above tasks to achieve departmental metrics as defined (5%)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in a sales engineering role (elevator-related experience preferred)
Skills
- Project Management training (preferred)
- Understanding of building/elevator codes (A17) (preferred)
- Problem-solving skills or Lean Six Sigma (preferred)
Travel
Approximately 20% travel may be required.

Pay
Base salary range: $82,900 – $91,600. The range may be revised based on experience, education, location, demonstrated skills, and alignment with business priorities. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on performance.
