Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical resource for sales inquiries related to HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and controls hardware/software.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution proposals to customers, consultants, and contractors.
- Prepare accurate controls estimating, scope documents, and competitive proposals in collaboration with sales and engineering teams.
- Review project plans and specifications to develop system designs, equipment lists, and material takeoffs for estimating purposes.
- Respond to RFIs/RFPs and produce compliant technical submittals and bid packages.
- Support sales account managers in developing strategies to win projects and grow accounts within the assigned territory.
- Coincide with engineering, project management, and field technicians to ensure smooth transition from sales to execution, including supporting commissioning and startup when required.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, industry standards, and competitive offerings; provide feedback to product and engineering teams on market needs.
- Maintain CRM records, track opportunities, and provide accurate sales forecasts and reporting.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, Building Systems, or equivalent technical discipline preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or controls estimating within the HVAC/building automation industry (BAS, building automation systems).
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC controls, BAS platforms, sensors, actuators, control valves, and field devices.
- Proven experience preparing estimates and proposals for controls projects; familiarity with controls estimating best practices and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating software, and CRM systems; ability to learn vendor-specific tools quickly.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines, and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
- Valid drivers license; professional certifications (e.g., CEA, LEED, or vendor control certifications) are a plus.
