A global leader operating at the intersection of food production, agriculture, and sustainability is seeking a Director of Sales to lead commercial strategy across a key business segment. The organization transforms byproducts into high-value ingredients used across animal nutrition, agriculture, and renewable energy—supporting a more circular, resource-efficient economy.
Position Overview
The Director of Sales will be responsible for driving top-line revenue and/or supply growth within a defined product category or business line. This role owns strategic account management, commercial execution, and go-to-market strategy, while partnering cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement sales strategies to expand market share, optimize product mix, and improve margin performance
- Identify new business opportunities, emerging customer needs, and untapped market segments
- Own forecasting, pipeline management, and delivery against annual revenue targets
- Negotiate and execute long-term agreements with key strategic customers
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships to drive retention, growth, and upsell opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align production capabilities, inventory planning, and customer demand
- Monitor competitive activity, market pricing, and share trends to inform strategy
- Ensure consistent use of CRM systems and adherence to sales processes and reporting discipline
- Present performance insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing sales talent (where applicable)
- Leverage data and analytics to refine commercial strategy and improve team effectiveness
- Support budgeting, resource allocation, and ROI tracking for sales initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in sales, including leadership responsibilities
- Proven success developing and executing commercial strategies in a high-volume environment
- Strong background in forecasting, pipeline management, and sales analytics
- Experience managing key accounts and negotiating complex contracts
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate effectively with senior leadership
Preferred:
- Industry experience in agriculture, animal nutrition, food ingredients, or related markets
- Demonstrated success closing large-scale, long-term supply agreements
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and data-driven sales tools
- Strong understanding of P&L performance and margin optimization
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities
