About the role
This field-based leadership position guides and develops a team of Account Managers while actively engaging with clients and driving business development. The role requires extensive travel across Canada and the United States and includes direct client interaction, team leadership, and strategic sales execution.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, onboard, and coach Account Managers in alignment with company vision, values, and growth objectives.
- Develop customized training and action plans for new Account Managers to ensure fast and effective ramp-up.
- Motivate and empower the team to consistently achieve sales goals through mentorship, support, and accountability.
- Analyze team performance, set clear KPIs, and make strategic adjustments as needed.
- Sales Strategy & Execution
- Support Account Managers throughout the sales cycle—from prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing.
- Help team members navigate complex customer organizations with multiple decision-makers.
- Oversee and help manage the team’s CRM usage to ensure clean data, proper pipeline tracking, and accurate forecasting.
- Client Engagement & Business Development
- Actively build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, providing hands-on support in key meetings and negotiations.
- Attend industry trade shows and events to build brand awareness, support team prospecting efforts, and stay current on market trends.
- Collaborate with marketing to recommend and implement targeted campaigns for specific regions, industries, or client segments.
- Market & Industry Awareness
- Stay informed of market trends and competitor activity to uncover new opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
- Lead or assist in bidding on posted tenders and RFPs to expand company contracts.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in outside sales, business development, or field operations.
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and team development skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Comfortable traveling extensively across Canada and the U.S.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- Experience in the traffic control, construction, or infrastructure industry (preferred).
- Familiarity with bidding processes for public and private contracts (preferred).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an asset but not required.
