Sales Counselor

About the role

The Sales Counselor leads all sales and marketing efforts for the community by presenting, promoting, and selling residency opportunities to prospective residents and their families. This position partners with the Marketing Director or works independently throughout the sales process, managing inquiries, tours, deposits, and move-ins while building meaningful relationships that support occupancy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the sales process from initial inquiry through deposit and move-in, effectively presenting the benefits, services, and lifestyle offered by the community.
  • Builds relationships with prospective residents, family members, referral sources, and other key influencers to facilitate informed and timely decisions regarding residency.
  • Conducts tours, discovery visits, assessments, and follow-up communications with prospective residents and families.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all sales activities, prospect interactions, and lead status updates within the community's lead management and CRM systems.
  • Develops and executes follow-up strategies through telephone calls, emails, and other outreach activities to maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Provides regular occupancy, lead generation, and sales activity updates to the Executive Director and leadership team, identifying opportunities and challenges impacting census goals.
  • Explains and communicates residency agreements, community policies, pricing structures, and move-in procedures to prospective residents and responsible parties.
  • Coordinates move-in activities with residents, families, and internal departments to ensure a positive transition experience.
  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in marketing events, open houses, educational seminars, and community outreach activities designed to increase awareness and generate qualified leads.
  • Represents the community at networking events, professional organizations, healthcare facilities, and other referral sources to develop and maintain referral relationships.
  • Identifies and cultivates prospective residents through referrals, advertising campaigns, online inquiries, community outreach, professional networking, and other lead-generation activities.
  • Assists in developing and implementing marketing strategies that support occupancy growth, resident retention, and community branding initiatives.
  • Collaborates with department leaders to ensure prospective residents receive accurate information regarding services, care options, amenities, and community programs.
  • Participates in all required sales, marketing, and compliance training programs and remains knowledgeable of industry trends and competitive market conditions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident, prospect, and organizational information in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Must be comfortable with networking and available to attend events sometimes after hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a marketing or sales position, preferably in a senior living or healthcare environment.
  • Experience selling an entrance fee product is required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage and build relationships with customers.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to understand customers’ needs and adapt strategies or tactics during the sales process.
