As a Sales Consultant, you will service restaurants, bars, night clubs, and other accounts by managing an established sales territory.
Responsibilities
- Strategize and preplan to achieve sales objectives by understanding company pricing and product programming information monthly and maintaining accurate historical account purchase information.
- Coordinate and manage special events, programs, and initiatives set forth by suppliers.
- Proactively drive business objectives and goals, tracking results on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis (e.g., distribution, menus, drink features, promotions, visibility, and staff training).
- Assist with point-of-sale tools to drive distribution, menu placement, and features for supplier brands.
- Track national account programs to ensure compliance with all programs set forth.
- Call on accounts and cover daily routes by creating an established and efficient routing pattern.
- Analyze the entire account base by visiting each account and identifying opportunities.
- Work with management on inventory levels by monitoring current inventory, out-of-stock situations, and demand fluctuations.
- Attain performance goals by achieving distribution, volume, and activity goals of supplier brands as set by management.
- Ensure maximum brand visibility within accounts by maintaining account standards and using effective point-of-sale materials.
- Obtain payments for the company by collecting and delivering checks or other remittance from accounts where legally permissible.
- Educate account staff on priority brands by administering training seminars.
- Support account openings by developing opening orders for new accounts in collaboration with the District Manager.
- Manage customer account receivables by processing credits and returns and communicating with accounts on aged receivables.
- Service accounts by delivering products in extenuating circumstances, handling customer issues and complaints, and escalating to management as needed.
- Maintain professional relationships with all suppliers.
- Stay informed of company and supplier activities by attending and actively participating in sales meetings.
- Complete all necessary training programs by attending, participating, and passing required tests as defined by management.
- Maintain professional and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
- Desire to sell and capacity to create professional presentations.
- Prior sales experience in the wine and spirits industry or in restaurants and hotels preferred.
- Availability to work outside 8-5 schedule, including early evenings and occasional weekend events.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, goal-oriented, timely, and able to prioritize.
- Team player attitude and actions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of product.
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with a large range of buyer types.
- Professional written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
- Must possess a reliable car, a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record.
- Four-year college degree highly preferred.
Schedule
Full time, regular position. Availability to work outside standard 8-5 hours, including early evenings and occasional weekends.
