Responsibilities
- Under the leadership of the Store Manager, the Sales Associate is a member of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team and is tasked with the daily operations of the retail store.
- The Sales Associate is responsible for obtaining payment for merchandise by accurately itemizing and totaling customer purchases.
- The Sales Associate keeps the store full and fresh of merchandise by processing, stocking and pulling.
- The Sales Associate provides excellent customer service, assists with store operations and merchandise, and ensures proper donation processing and product rotation per Goodwill guidelines.
- The Sales Associate trains and develops team members, tracks donations, and performs basic calculations to ensure store operations are in line with policies and procedures.
- The Sales Associate maintains punctuality, professionalism, and a positive attitude while assisting with store merchandise, security, and janitorial tasks.
- The Sales Associate adheres to Goodwill policies for sales, exchanges, cash handling, and safety, ensuring a positive customer and donor experience.
- The Sales Associate notifies management of inventory levels, processes donations, and remains flexible with scheduling, including nights and weekends.
- The Sales Associate has the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, with flexibility to accommodate diverse communication styles and abilities, ensuring inclusive engagement with the public, department staff, and individuals with varying needs.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Employment offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and team lift or use equipment to aid in the lifting and movement of items over 40 pounds (common items include, but are not limited to, bags of clothes/miscellaneous items, televisions, computers, sofas, kitchen appliances, bicycles and bedroom sets).
Skills

Pay
Hourly Rate: $13.00 per hour
Schedule
- Scheduled up to 29-hours per week
- Weekend availability
Physical Requirements
- The employee must be able to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
- The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and team lift or use equipment to aid in the lifting and movement of items over 40 pounds (common items include, but are not limited to, bags of clothes/miscellaneous items, televisions, computers, sofas, kitchen appliances, bicycles and bedroom sets).
Working Environment
- Indoors with occasional exposure to outside temperatures
- Will work around occupational allergens, both air and contact, including but not limited to, dust, animal hair and dander, perfumes, and mold
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
