SALES ASSOCIATE - (Part-time w/Benefits) - CONVENIENCE

About the role

As a sales associate, you will be the face of our company! You’ll highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will assist customers directly, helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You must be capable of learning about what we sell and able to articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Responsibilities

• Proactively engage and connect with customers by asking questions and listening to their needs.
• Direct customers to merchandise; inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and loyalty programs (e.g., STAR card).
• Provide premier customer service and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships.
• Maintain store appearance and cross-sell products while knowing the store layout.
• Make personalized suggestions to customers based on the latest trends and current promotions.
• Upsell products and learn product features to confidently provide customers with detailed product knowledge.
• Operate a Point-of-Sale system, process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit cards, and handle cash accurately.
• Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation tasks.
• Manage merchandise inventory, including checking in stock and ensuring accurate ticketing (may participate in periodic inventories).
• Adhere to assigned work schedule and follow through on work assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of products/merchandise (retail experience preferred but not required).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents (e.g., safety rules, operating instructions).
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management, including proper telephone etiquette.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to business needs.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independently.

Physical Demands

• Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
• Work is typically performed indoors but may occasionally be assigned outdoors depending on location.

Schedule

Part-time (20–34.5 hours per week). Available to work a variety of hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

No prior experience required. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
