Sales Associate Part-Time (Budtender)

About the role

As a part-time Sales Associate (Budtender) you’ll be the primary face of the store: greeting customers, educating them on our in-house cultivated product line, guiding product selection based on needs and desired effects, maintaining compliant and accurate sales transactions, and supporting store merchandising and inventory. This role is ideal for someone who loves people, cares deeply about product quality and safety, and wants to grow their cannabis knowledge in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide consultative conversations about product options and effects
• Maintain compliant and accurate sales transactions using POS systems
• Guide product selection based on customer needs and desired effects
• Support store merchandising and inventory tasks
• Follow all local and state cannabis regulations, including ID verification and transaction limits
• Ensure order accuracy, product labeling, and inventory management

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Legally eligible to work in Massachusetts and able to comply with state cannabis employment requirements
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Basic math and cash-handling experience
• Reliable punctuality and professional presentation
• Open availability for part-time shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30–50 lbs (depending on store needs)
• Attention to detail for order accuracy, product labeling, and inventory tasks

Desired Skills

• Previous retail or dispensary/budtender experience in the cannabis industry
• Familiarity with Massachusetts seed-to-sale systems (e.g., Metrc) or retail inventory platforms
• Strong product knowledge of flower, concentrates, edibles, and topicals — or demonstrated willingness to learn quickly
• Retail merchandising and basic inventory management experience
• Certification or coursework in cannabis education, safety, or responsible sales
• Bilingual abilities to better serve the local community
• Comfort with upselling and achieving sales goals in a customer-first manner
• Interest in long-term growth within Elevated Roots and willingness to cross-train on additional retail or operational responsibilities
