About the Role
Perform sales, display, and clerical duties under direct supervision to achieve optimum customer service goals in the Gift Shop at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt (MCJCHV).
Responsibilities
- Assist customers on the sales floor and at customer service stations, recognizing needs related to merchandise location, pricing, and selection.
- Handle customer problems efficiently and politely to ensure satisfaction.
- Ensure sufficient stock levels, appropriately priced for customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular inventory of stock as established by the buyer and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Recognize reorder needs, notify the buyer, and assist in placing reorders.
- Assist in identifying and processing merchandise to be returned to vendors for credit.
- Assist in receiving and pricing incoming merchandise, notifying the buyer of any discrepancies.
- Assist in repricing stock, such as markdowns and markups, and maintain accurate records of price changes.
- Ensure accuracy of purchase transactions and perform customer purchase transactions quickly and accurately.
- Count and balance the cash register till as necessary.
- Process special orders, including general books, calculators, and small electronics, following standard procedures.
- Receive and process mail and phone orders promptly.
- Correspond with customers as needed to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain an attractive retail store to achieve merchandising objectives.
- Maintain clean and orderly stockrooms and work areas to facilitate sales and stocking activities.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
