Responsibilities

• Proactively engage and make a connection with customers; ask questions and listen to customer needs.
• Direct customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card.
• Provide premier customer service; cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
• Maintain store appearance.
• Cross‑sell products; know store layout; make suggestions based on latest trends and current promotions tailored to individual customer needs.
• Upsell products.
• Learn product features; stay current with trends; leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide product knowledge, specs.
• Use Point‑of‑Sales system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards; handle cash including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
• Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
• Be the keeper of merchandise; complete all inventory processes; ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed; may participate in periodic inventories.
• Adhere to assigned work schedule; ensure accurate and complete follow‑through on work assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
• Retail experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management; proper telephone etiquette.
• Basic math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
• Ability to multi‑task while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to business needs.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative without direct supervision.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Pay

Competitive Salary: Federal pay beginning at the Non‑Appropriated Fund NF‑01 level + depending on experience.

Schedule

Primary Location: United States‑Rhode Island‑Newport. Organization: Newport. Schedule: Full‑Time (35+ hours). Work Hours: Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
