SALES ASSOCIATE - FULL TIME

Responsibilities

• Support sales targets and perform assigned tasks efficiently
• Assist customers with product information and coordinate the loading of their purchases
• Operate a cash register and use a computer for sales transactions and inventory management
• Assemble merchandise and execute price changes or markdowns
• Apply effective merchandising techniques to present products attractively
• Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements

• Availability on weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday

Qualifications

• Retail experience or knowledge in specialized areas such as pets, equine, wild birds, or lawn and garden is strongly preferred

Skills

• Proficiency in operating a cash register and computer for sales and inventory management
• Ability to assemble merchandise and execute price changes or markdowns
• Strong communication skills for assisting customers and coordinating purchases
• Effective merchandising techniques
• Adaptability to perform other assigned duties

Essential Physical Requirements

• Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store
• Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack)
• Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
• Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
• Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift
• Ability to stand for a prolonged period of time
• Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, mezzanine, and register area
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g., dolly, hand truck, computer, cash register)
• Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computers, cash registers, and other standard store equipment
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation
• Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with sales associates and customers
• Ability to process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system
• Ability to successfully complete all required training
