Sales Associate
About the Role
The Sales Associate is responsible for performing daily branch and customer service duties, providing customers with efficient and accurate transaction processing, and promoting business through quality customer service. This role involves handling routine customer inquiries, providing referrals for products and services, and contributing to team goals in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate core banking systems and process transactions using a sales associate cash drawer with accuracy and efficiency.
- Balance assigned cash daily and maintain strict adherence to security procedures, including sole control of the cash drawer and assigned cash limits.
- Adhere to cash differences and controllable losses policy.
- Identify customers by verifying proper documentation, endorsements, payees, and cash/check transactions, including withdrawals and transfers.
- Obtain supervisor approval for transactions exceeding bank-established cash limits, ensuring sufficient funds and compliance with stop payments and holds.
- Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Prepare mandatory currency transaction reports and monetary instrument logs in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations, including KYC, OFAC, and Information Security policies.
- Contribute to meeting monthly branch and/or individual scorecard goals by monitoring self-performance and following action plans.
- Ensure delivery of excellent customer service by adhering to sales and service standards.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Stay current and knowledgeable about the Bank’s products and services to effectively communicate them to clients.
- As business needs arise, open and/or close the branch, which may require working outside normal scheduled hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the Bank’s in-house Sales Associate Training Program.
- Previous customer service experience is highly desired.
- Ability to demonstrate a sales-oriented, professional demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
- Experience in handling money preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel).
- Understanding and working knowledge of core banking systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Professionalism and confidentiality are essential.
- Flexibility in work schedule as business needs arise.

Pay
The expected base pay and salary range for this role in Tappahannock, VA is $32,308 to $51,692. Placement within the range will be determined on an individualized basis, commensurate with experience and skills. Base salary may be subject to an annual merit increase based on performance and may include eligibility for cash bonuses, long-term incentives, commissions, and other benefit programs.
