About the role
As an entry-level Sales Associate / Cashier at Goodwill Industries of Akron, you are the face of our agency! You play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing services to the community. Customer service is always your number one priority—whether serving shoppers or donors.
- Greet every person with a warm smile, no matter how busy you are.
- Ensure all customers are made aware of the Elizabeth Clark Fund and ask them to participate, as well as sign up or use their Goodwill Club membership.
- Assist with purchases, operating the cash register and point of sale system accurately and efficiently.
- Complete reports such as donation counts, readings, daily business statements, deposits, and cash drawer balances.
- Answer the phone with friendliness and commitment to customer service, listening carefully.
- Select and price donated goods and textiles, ensuring Goodwill quality control standards are met.
- Maintain neat and clean store areas.
You will meet lots of new people every day, as well as regular customers who return because of the great customer service you provide.
Requirements
- Ability to operate a cash register, including basic math, computer, and typing skills.
- Ability to operate a cash register and count back change.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Customer service skills.
- Friendly with excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Able to work independently while fostering a strong team atmosphere and promoting our agency in a positive manner.
Schedule
This position requires a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
