Sales Associate

About the role

As an entry-level Sales Associate / Cashier at Goodwill Industries of Akron, you are the face of our agency and play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing services to the community. Customer service is always your number one priority—whether serving shoppers or donors.

Responsibilities

• Greet every person who approaches with a warm smile, regardless of workload.
• Inform customers about the Elizabeth Clark Fund and encourage participation or sign-ups for the Goodwill Club membership.
• Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently.
• Complete reports including donation counts, readings, daily business statements, deposits, and cash drawer balances with attention to detail.
• Answer incoming calls with friendliness and attentiveness.
• Select and price donated goods and textiles while meeting Goodwill quality control standards.
• Maintain clean and organized store areas.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a cash register, including basic math, computer, and typing skills.
• Ability to count back change accurately.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Friendly demeanor and excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Reliability and trustworthiness.
• Ability to work independently while fostering a strong team atmosphere and promoting the agency positively.
