About the Role
The Licensed Optician delivers the brand value proposition and helps establish For Eyes as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community. This role focuses on creating exceptional value for customers by delivering legendary customer service and perfectly crafted, high-quality eyewear that exceeds expectations.
Responsibilities
- Greet all customers warmly, exchange names, and set clear expectations for their visit.
- Show urgency in providing service and satisfying customer needs.
- Custom fit glasses and precisely place prescriptions in lenses.
- Act as a leader in optical acumen, providing guidance to associates.
- Take and record measurements, adjust or fit eyewear correctly, ensuring finished eyewear meets standards and customer requirements.
- Attract new customers and explore their needs by asking open-ended questions.
- Be attentive to details, ask follow-up questions, review prescriptions, and identify special needs.
- Assist co-workers with complex product needs and prescriptions.
- Utilize store tools and adhere to Brand Store Commitments.
- Perform work accurately and thoroughly using technology, even under time pressure and high customer volume.
- Demonstrate superior product knowledge; proactively describe features and benefits of lenses and frames using appropriate tools.
- Reinforce customers’ final selection of eyewear.
- Anticipate and resolve problems, explore underlying reasons for customer issues, and develop long-term solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Act quickly to resolve issues and partner with management as needed.
- Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively with competing priorities.
- Commit to delivery dates and times, seek feedback, and ask for referrals.
- Strive to achieve exceptional results on Brand KPIs and competencies.
- Present, celebrate, and educate customers at pick-up.
- Maintain store appearance, showing initiative to keep the store clean, attractive, and organized.
- Secure and protect company assets under your control.
- Inform management of safety opportunities and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Demonstrate a "can do" spirit, self-motivation, and a drive for continual learning and improvement.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including discounting, promotions, and inventory management.
- Sell on your feet 80%-100% of the time.
- Perform additional duties as needed, such as customer calls and dispensing eyewear.
- Maintain proper dress code, including wearing a name tag and carrying an associate tablet.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- State licensure as an optician.
- Experience in optical dispensing.
- Strong customer service skills: effective communicator, active listener, and team builder.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- Basic math skills.
- Awareness of current fashion trends.
- Selling skills, including the ability to use and carry an iPad/tablet.
- Familiarity with POS systems, computers, and calculators.
