Sales Associate

About the role

The Sales Associate plays a critical role by delivering excellent customer service and having knowledge of the merchandise to achieve excellent customer satisfaction. This position requires a proactive and vigilant individual who will remain highly engaged with customers, demonstrate integrity, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic retail setting. The Sales Associate will contribute to building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.

Responsibilities

• Processes freight
• Assists with price changes and markdowns
• Balances register according to company policy
• Bags merchandise efficiently during customer transactions
• Handles all cash, checks, and credit cards correctly and by company policy
• Obtains management approval for returns, voids, and checks when needed
• Performs maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned
• Provides proper customer service, including greeting customers, following fitting room policies, ringing customers in a timely fashion, thanking them for shopping, and inviting them to return
• Follows all safety procedures
• Maintains a professional, neat appearance, including wearing a name tag
• Assists management in merchandising the sales floor according to stock levels
• Explains exchange and refund policies to customers after transactions
• Assists the Store Manager with Loss Prevention procedures, including preventing shoplifting and cash losses, reporting incidents of theft or dishonesty, and following all current operational policies
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

Skills

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages

Physical Requirements

Sales Associates must work their scheduled hours per week and perform the following essential physical functions with or without accommodation:
