Sales Associate
About the role
Barbizon Lighting Company is a leader in the entertainment lighting industry, providing products and services for theatre, television, film, education, and themed environments since 1945. As a Sales Associate within the Products and Expendables Division, you will play a crucial role in selling and marketing Barbizon’s products.
Responsibilities
- Build primary contacts by connecting with customers via phone calls, emails, and in-person visits, with the objective of introducing the company’s new and existing products lines & services.
- Research, schedule, and conduct in person visits with current or prospective customers with the intention of building trust, showcasing pertinent products, and offering expertise.
- Collaborate with customers, evaluate their needs, and offer suitable solutions.
- Plan and execute product demonstrations with information and pricing as requested.
- Negotiate pricing with customers within established guidelines.
- Enter orders accurately, routing paperwork as appropriate.
- Deepen customer relationships and generate repeat business through timely, and effective follow-ups.
- Maintain a high conversion rate from sales leads to profitable sales.
- Handle product returns and refunds according to policy.
- Perform other customer service duties, such as stock checks, orders, and shipping confirmations.
- Add and maintain accurate customer and contact records in Salesforce, including capturing new leads, updating profiles, tracking interactions, managing sales opportunities, and ensuring data consistency.
- Absorb and assist in the collection of aged receivables as necessary.
- Meet with vendors during office visits to expand individual product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Collaborate with manufacturers and sales associates on calls and visits with new and prospective customers.
- Attend trade shows as well as industry and Barbizon sponsored events as required.
- Travel locally and long distance as required.
- Absorb and assist in the development and implementation of sales and marketing plans for customers within their sales region.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive sales expertise with strong product knowledge and the ability to drive revenue.
- Background in retail or customer service, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Proven success in phone sales or telemarketing, with the ability to engage and convert leads over the phone.
- Experience in the lighting, entertainment, or architectural lighting industry, preferred.
Pay
The salary range for a Sales Associate at Barbizon Lighting’s Chicago location is currently $56,000 to $65,000 per annum, depending upon experience. Please be aware, extensive industry experience or specific skills that fully match, or exceed what is required, may in fact increase this range.
