About the role

PEO Spectrum, an Alera Group company, is seeking a driven, competitive, and relationship-focused Sales Associate to join our growing team in Smithtown, NY. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a long-term career in sales, consulting, and business development.

As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, cold calling, networking, referral development, and relationship building. You'll work closely with experienced Sales Consultants who will mentor and develop you as you gain expertise in the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry.

PEO Spectrum helps small and mid-sized businesses evaluate, compare, and implement HR, payroll, employee benefits, workers' compensation, and compliance solutions. As the first point of contact with prospective clients, you'll play a critical role in driving business growth while developing the skills necessary to advance into a Sales Consultant role.

Responsibilities

As a Sales Associate, your responsibilities will include generating new business opportunities through various methods and working closely with experienced Sales Consultants.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

• Ability to work onsite in Smithtown, NY, five days per week
• Previous experience in sales, business development, customer service, or another client-facing role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build relationships and engage prospective clients
• Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls daily
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM technology
• Self-motivated, competitive, and goal-oriented mindset

The following qualifications are preferred:

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in payroll, HR, insurance, employee benefits, financial services, or PEO-related industries
• Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
• Strong resilience, coachability, and a desire to build a long-term career in sales and consulting

Pay

Compensation includes a salary range of $80,000 – $100,000 per year, plus commissions.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is in-office, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM (1-hour lunch).
