Sales Assistant to Director
About the role
The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate and interested in the arts/larger creative arena or is eager to learn. Previous experience and a background within the commercial art world is not required. Responsibilities
- Liaise with other gallery staff regarding all aspects of inventory & exhibition management: production, shipping, framing, photography, research, etc.
- Aid the Director in sending out and monitoring offers, and work with the marketing department to obtain images, provenance, press packs, and all other relevant documentation for offers.
- Manage the Director’s secondary market consignments, prepare consignment and contract agreements; liaise with clients on cataloging and research materials, and create presentations for client offers and significant works.
- Create and manage client lists for exhibition previews/dinners, and support the Director during openings.
- Organize the Director's schedule, plan, and book travel, keep track of meetings, and create expense reports.
- Responsible for organizing the Directors inbox, and staying on top of all communication requests.
Requirements
2-3 years in an assistant or administrative support role at a gallery. Experience supporting senior leadership with calendar management and travel itinerary. Detail-oriented with experience in managing upwards. Strong Multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-departmentally. Passion for and knowledge of contemporary art.
Qualifications
BA in Art History and/or Arts Administration or Business Administration and at least two years of related experience or the equivalent.
Skills
Superior writing skills, the ability to manage time and meet deadlines, and a thorough working knowledge of contemporary art are required.

Pay
$60k annual salary, paid hourly; overtime eligible. Plus eligibility for discretionary semi-annual bonuses.
