About the role

The Weaver State and Local Tax team is seeking an Indirect (Sales/Use) Tax Senior Associate or Supervisor to join their expanding team. This role involves providing consulting services to corporate clients, identifying complex tax issues, and preparing tax research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex Indirect tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits)
  • Prepare complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries
  • Thoroughly research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and tax implications
  • Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA candidate or pursuing the CMA
  • 2+ years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm, or similar industry
  • Experience in indirect (sales & use) tax compliance and consulting
  • Familiarity with basic tax research techniques (RIA, CCH)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CMA
  • Knowledge of managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing
  • Experience working with audits and reverse audits
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills

Compensation and Benefits

A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $115,000 in the California, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York Metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location. In addition to compensation packages, Weaver offers competitive health benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
