Responsibilities
- Aid in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
- Assist with store operations, serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner, handle all donations with care, and interact respectfully with donors.
- Maintain merchandise as directed, ensuring proper categorization and color coding.
- Ensure the store is adequately stocked and ragged out according to the "Arc Command Rag out Calendar."
- Participate in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
- Report any theft, customer complaints, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to management.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
- Support the work therapy program by providing professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed).
- Perform cashier/sales floor duties, including cash handling, security standards, and daily sales reports.
- Sort, price, stock, and rag out showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
- Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
- Answer telephone calls efficiently and professionally.
- Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices based on style, quality, and condition.
- Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
- Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
- Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
- Handle miscellaneous merchandise donations, sort, clean, and ticket items, and place them in the required order.
- Complete furniture tickets and record required information, assigning a fair market price for each item.
- Mark down furniture items on the sales floor in accordance with policy.
- Manage donations and maintenance tasks, including accepting donations, receiving and receipting donated material, and ensuring a constant flow of donations to the sorting table.
- Bale ragouts and trash as required.
- Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
