Responsibilities

  • Aid in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Assist with store operations.
  • Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain merchandise as directed, ensuring proper categories and colorization.
  • Ensure the store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” according to the “Arc Command Rag out Calendar.”
  • Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
  • Report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Be well-versed in and comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
  • Support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed).
  • Perform cashier/sales floor duties, including cash handling, security standards, and merchandise restocking.
  • Sort, price, stock, and “rag out” showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
  • Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
  • Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality, and condition of each piece.
  • Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
  • Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Sort, clean, and process saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
  • Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Sort, clean, and process saleable footwear, handbags, and accessory donations daily.
  • Sort, clean, and process saleable linen items daily as required.
  • Sort, clean, and process saleable books, records, and toys donations daily.
  • Sort, clean, and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.
  • Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.
  • Mark down furniture items on the sales floor in accordance with policy.
  • Sort, clean, and process saleable domestic items donations daily.
  • Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.
  • Able to lift 100 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
