Responsibilities
- Aid in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
- Support store operations by serving all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain merchandise as directed, ensuring proper categories and colorization.
- Ensure the store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” according to the “Arc Command Rag out Calendar.”
- Clean and maintain the general maintenance of store property.
- Report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately to management.
- Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
- Comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
- Support the work therapy program by providing professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed).
- Perform cashier/sales floor duties such as cash handling, security standards, and merchandise restocking.
- Sort, price, stock, and “rag out” showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
- Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
- Answer telephone calls efficiently and professionally.
- Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices.
- Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
- Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
- Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
- Sort, clean, and ticket all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
- Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
- Sort, clean, and ticket all saleable footwear, handbags, and accessory donations daily.
- Measure and ticket all saleable linen items daily as required.
- Ticket all saleable books, records, and toys donations daily in accordance with established policies.
- Test and ticket all saleable electrical and furniture donations as required.
- Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.
- Mark down furniture items on the sales floor in accordance with policy.
- Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.
- Lift up to 100 pounds.
- Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities.
- Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
- Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
- Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
