Sales and Material Handler

About the role

Founded in 1890, Curtis Lumber is a family‑owned building materials retailer among the nation’s 100 largest and fastest‑growing companies. The New Berlin location is seeking a Sales Associate/Yard Material Handler who will split time between indoor sales duties and outdoor yard material handling.

Responsibilities

• Take phone calls, build quotes and orders for pickup or delivery, and assist customers entering the store.
• Provide exceptional customer service in the outdoor yard using proper material handling practices and PPE to load, unload, and store material.
• Understand the building materials marketplace and know product features.
• Work to meet prospect customers’ needs – excellent customer service skills.
• Use effective suggestive and upgrade selling, add‑on sales, and closing techniques.
• Follow up on quotes to achieve quote‑to‑order conversion.
• Share expertise with coworkers.
• Manage inventory and merchandising of products.
• Safely and properly use equipment and materials.
• Work outside year‑round in various seasonal weather conditions.
• Provide customer service to yard customers.

Pay

Starting rate $18 per hour with annual performance‑based raises.
