About the role
The Account Specialist ensures all sales ordering, account execution, and product merchandising within assigned accounts meet the standards of Gulf Distributing Holdings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and complete sales and merchandising calls on all assigned accounts on the assigned day and in the established sequence.
- Sell and merchandise all beer, non-alcoholic, and other products in accordance with GDH standards.
- Have sales orders available for downloading at assigned times.
- Work with retailers to equalize order quantities between scheduled deliveries.
- Ensure all paper and permanent Point of Sale (POS) materials are used properly and in the correct quantity.
- Use sales history tools and data to maximize sales and prevent out-of-stocks and call-ins.
- Ensure monthly sales features are executed, including selling required case deals, building authorized displays, and maintaining monthly promo pricing.
- Actively participate in all incentive and PFP programs.
- Follow up on accounts to assist or complete merchandising efforts for GDH products as needed.
- Maintain positive working relationships with owners, managers, and employees of assigned accounts.
- Monitor competitive activity and identify opportunities to increase sales in assigned accounts.
- Report new competitive activity and pricing discrepancies to your Manager.
- Work with accounts to ensure modular integrity and improve shelf position when available.
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in the business success of each assigned account.
- Maintain open and clear communications with GDH owners, managers, and employees.
- Actively participate in all safety, sales meetings, calls, and trainings.
- Communicate tasks to drivers regarding displays, placements, POS, and other duties.
- Ensure proper stock rotation in all assigned accounts.
- Utilize the Company’s Move Beer and Quality Control Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure all packages are sellable; swap or re-pack damaged product.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, serviced at regular intervals.
- Dress and maintain personal appearance in a professional manner according to company policy.
- Properly operate, protect from damage, and return all issued equipment.
- Conduct all activities within company policies and local, state, and federal liquor control regulations.
- Report traffic violations, accidents, and injuries immediately to your Manager.
- Perform all work activities in accordance with safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
- Obtain state liquor and spirits licensing where applicable, including completing required paperwork.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- At least 2 years of industry-related experience.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software (e.g., prior use of VIP or similar).
- Personable, highly organized, strong leadership skills, detail-oriented.
- Access to reliable transportation; valid driver’s license and auto insurance if driving on company business.
- Must pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.

Working Conditions
- Frequently (50%+ of time) required to walk, talk, stand, sit, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently (50%+ of time) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Occasionally (less than 25% of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment, fumes, or airborne particles; noise level is usually quiet.
- Frequently (more than 50% of time) travel throughout the sales territory.
- Occasional (less than 25% of time) overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business.
