About the role

The Safety Support Technician reports to the Capstone Logistics Safety Supervisor. This role primarily focuses on safety and customer service, including inspecting, testing, and evaluating workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits to evaluate workplace safety and health programs.
• Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
• Lead safety meetings and trainings to ensure facility safety compliance.
• Participate in post-accident investigations and recommend preventive measures.
• Assist operation management with accident documentation.
• Provide driver retraining and recertification when necessary.
• Serve as the first responder for the shift.
• Inform the leadership team of all plant safety and health issues.
• Ensure attendance at the assigned work facility and perform tasks safely.
• Direct employee activity to maintain area housekeeping requirements.
• Abide by all OSHA rules and Capstone Logistics safety practices.
• Meet established procedures and productivity, safety, and quality standards.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
• Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
• Collaborate with all departments, share labor, and cross-train as needed.
• Ensure associates have appropriate tools to perform their duties.
• Audit operations to ensure compliance with standard work sheets.
• Collect data and report on KPIs, quality reports, audits, financial reporting, and customer-required reports.
• Track all material handling equipment (MHE) and related materials.
• Create, manage, and input data using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and apply safety requirements and regulations (OSHA).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to perform duties outside normal expertise to meet warehouse goals (e.g., facility management, maintenance, sanitation).
• Ability to respond to situations promptly and professionally.
• High energy and motivation to succeed.
• Proven professionalism and sound judgment in managing sensitive matters.
• Excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work in multiple systems and input/retrieve data efficiently.
• Fluency in English.
• High-energy individual with a strong work ethic; the work is fast-paced and physical.
• Sit-down/Stand-up forklift certification or experience.
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25-75 lbs; materials handled vary.
• Prior warehouse and/or equipment experience preferred (willing to train the right candidate).
• All candidates must be over 18 and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Work Environment

• 10% of work time is spent in a climate-controlled office setting.
• 90% of work time may be spent in non-climate-controlled warehouse or other locations (hot and cold seasonally).
