Essential Job Functions
- Develop and implement integrated system safety management programs covering all lifecycle phases from concept through disposal, including requirements definition, documentation, testing, and evaluation.
- Establish and manage key safety program elements such as System Safety Management Plans, Hazard Tracking Systems, and System Safety Working Groups.
- Cookordination and oversight of safety efforts across internal teams, installations, and contractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and milestones.
- Provide technical safety guidance to Program Managers and Integrated Product Teams, ensuring safety considerations are incorporated early in system development.
- Review hardware designs, manufacturing processes, and maintenance procedures to ensure safe and reliable system performance.
- Conduct safety assessments, analyze field issues, and recommend design or procedural improvements to enhance safety and usability.
- Evaluate engineering change proposals, waivers, and deviations for safety impacts, providing recommendations and concurrence decisions.
- Participate in source selection boards, acquisition planning, and system specification reviews with a focus on safety performance and risk assessment.
- Develop and communicate system safety risk assessments for residual hazards and material changes.
- Serve as a technical representative at meetings, conferences, and cross-functional engagements to address safety issues and coordinate solutions.
- Maintain communication with government agencies, contractors, and operational units to disseminate safety information and resolve technical concerns.
Required Skills
- Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
- High School Diploma/GED with 13 years of experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of military ground vehicle systems, including tracked and wheeled platforms and their subsystems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the government, contractors, and industry partners.
- Ability to analyze technical data, conduct safety evaluations, and assess risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs and safety standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882).
- Background in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or automotive engineering.
- Experience supporting source selection boards or acquisition planning activities.
- Familiarity with hazard analysis techniques and safety risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience working with Program Executive Offices (PEOs) or similar organizations.
- Prior experience with fielded systems, failure analysis, or accident investigation.
- Resident experience with ground combat platforms.
- Experience supporting acquisition programs, engineering reviews, and system development processes.
