Safety Specialist | Construction

About the role
CMI is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional to support a fast-paced construction project. This position will work closely with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and field teams to identify hazards, maintain OSHA compliance, and promote a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify hazards
- Coach and support contractors and field personnel on safe work practices
- Monitor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and project safety requirements
- Support PTPs, JSAs/JHAs, permits, and other safety processes
- Lead orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
- Maintain required safety documentation and reports
- Monitor high-risk work, including excavation, demolition, fall protection, electrical, confined space, and crane activities
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction safety experience
- OSHA 510 required
- OSHA 30 Construction required (within the last 5 years)
- First Aid/CPR/AED required
- Excavation and demolition safety experience required
- Pharmaceutical construction experience required
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards
- Strong hazard recognition and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, supervisors, and project leadership
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems
Qualifications
- BCSP certification such as STS-C, CHST, or CSP
- OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, or other relevant safety certifications
- Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field
Work Requirements
- This is a field-based position requiring regular walking, standing, climbing, and navigating active construction areas
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and lift up to 30 lbs
- Flexible hours and overtime may be required based on project needs
- Reliable transportation is required
