About the role

Performs direct observation of the patient to maintain safety. Utilizes specialized training, de-escalation techniques and other interventions as applicable to create a therapeutic and calming environment for patients. Communicates patient mental and/or physical status changes to the primary Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Leader. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct observation of the patient to maintain safety.
• Utilizes specialized training, de-escalation techniques and other interventions as applicable to create a therapeutic and calming environment for patients.
• Communicates patient mental and/or physical status changes to the primary Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Leader.
• Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Requirements

• 6 months of hospital or patient care experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic interventions. Ability to observe changes in patient behavior, deescalate aggressive or agitated behavior, and anticipate need for further intervention.
• De-escalation training, preferred. De-escalation required if sitting for at risk for harm to self or others within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic computer skills.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS with the American Heart Association Required.

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly).

Benefits

• PRN: +15% PRN Differential - Not eligible for benefits.
• Full Time/Part Time: Benefits eligible based on FTE eligibility.

Pay

The posted compensation range of $18.00 - $21.62 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
