About the Role

The SSE Officer will be responsible for providing safety, security, and environmental oversight while ensuring excellence and consistency of safety, security, and environmental standards throughout the station's operations to support operational output. The role involves providing guidance on Menzies Aviation (MA) safety, security, and environmental policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position is related to ground fueling operations within the relevant business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example at all times and provide open, honest, and direct feedback to employees.
  • Promote Safety, Security, and Environmental awareness within the station operation, driving the "Safety and Security First" culture.
  • Ensure safety, security, and environmental policies are implemented within the station.
  • Ensure compliance with Menzies Manuals and local legislation standards and policies.
  • Continuously improve hazard identification, risk assessments, and compliance with risk mitigation measures, safe systems of work, and controls.
  • Collaborate with the local or regional management team to develop policies and procedures, ensuring safe systems of work are established to enhance operational safety knowledge of applicable Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Conduct monthly Health and Safety Inspections and audits as described in the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Conduct Incident Investigations when necessary.
  • Review station employee injury and incident trends and direct corrective action.
  • Facilitate the distribution of safety, security, and environmental alerts within operations.
  • Implement and support new Safety, Security, and Environmental business tools and processes.
  • Provide recommendations to the Risk (HSSE) Manager regarding the ongoing development of the Station's Risk and Safety System, Quality Assurance, and Security procedures and associated documentation.
  • Implement the station's Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Establish, lead, and support the station Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure all Safety and Security meetings are held in line with statutory requirements.
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practices to management.
  • Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety and security meetings with airline customers and represent Menzies through the airport's Safety Forums.
  • Attend mandatory training imposed by the Company and Airlines as per the job role.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by a direct or indirect superior manager.

Requirements

  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • Formal OSHA or similar Safety Certification desired.
  • Must have a valid full G Driver's License and be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
  • PC literate.
