Safety Ops Manager

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Safety Managers and shipboard inspectors to verify compliance with National, International Rules/Regulations, and Class requirements.
• Reviews and updates maintenance schedules based on Ship Survey findings and results.
• Defines and maintains operational requirements for riding teams under the direction of the Safety Managers.
• Assists in organizing and scheduling repair and maintenance work for safety-related equipment and machinery, collaborating with the engineering operations team.
• Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing riding team and special projects.
• Assists in identifying new technologies to be implemented based on needs and requirements.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to advance technical operating practices, procedures, and standards.
• Keeps all technical documentation up to date and to the correct standards.
• Assists with the creation of AMOS (Asset Management Operating System) jobs and all safety-related maintenance jobs as outlined in AMOS.
• Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating ships assembly plans and ensuring accurate records within Fidelio and the Mobile Assembly System.
• Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating the in-port manning program and improving where necessary, partnering with on-board steering committees.
• Attends technical discussions for safety discipline and participates in negotiations with builders and suppliers.
• Attends meetings and yard visits as required.
• Assists the New Build Team in reviewing technical documentation, providing expertise in the design, selection, and testing of equipment, and assists as required.
• Assists in maintaining safe operations with alternative fuels (LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) & Methanol).
• Assists with developing procedures under the direction of the Manager of Safety Operations.
• Contributes to future LNG & Methanol Bunkering HAZIDs and Risk Analysis in relation to new bunkering locations.
• Coordinates, in cooperation with the Marine and Engineering Operations teams, the fleet and island safety equipment, maintenance, and service agreements, ensuring the use of certified providers.
• Where applicable, assists in aligning private island safety procedures with WDW Safety and Auditing (WSA) standards in liaison with WSA leadership, leveraging as many WDW Safety programs as possible.
• Responsible for all safety and enhancement projects related to fire safety of the island.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a shipboard Deck, Engineering, or Safety Officer role, or equivalent experience as a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer working on technical projects within the cruise industry.
• Ability to influence leadership with a strategic and collaborative approach.
• Led safety initiatives for area.
• Demonstrated communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
• Self-starter, recognizing when projects need to involve multiple partners and decisions need to be made at other levels within the organization.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook and Word.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical experience/certification.
• PREFERRED: Master Mariner License or Chief Engineer License.
• PREFERRED: MBA or equivalent degree.
