Safety Manager (Owner's Representative) - Data Center Construction

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years construction/safety experience in critical facilities, mission critical, semiconductor, or similar scope projects primarily for vertical building construction.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the project team.
  • Evidence of completing OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach Training within the last three years. In the alternative, evidence of completing the OSHA 500 or OSHA 502 Class may be provided.
  • Current First Aid and CPR training from a provider recognized by OSHA.
  • Minimum of holding a valid Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certificate issued by the BCSP Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties and perform time management as required to meet all the position requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and related spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to provide management oversight on behalf of the Owner and effectively complete reporting on a daily basis as required by the program.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Look ahead on high-risk activities and assisting with risk analysis of upcoming work.
  • Produce daily observations and indicator/trend reports on Procure.
  • Maintain compliance with site safety programs and requirements, which defines safety requirements that contractors must comply with while working as an Owner's Representative on Data Center projects.
  • Conduct Daily Safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform construction site safety audits to identify improper procedures, check equipment and facilities for hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Audit and review Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for safety compliance and to minimize site impacts.
  • Submit Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Safety reports required by the Program.
  • Maintain compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
  • Report to the Director of Safety, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
  • Immediately notify the Director of Safety of any incident or recordable injury on projects.
  • Maintain compliance with COVID-19 regulations as defined by city, state, and OSHA guidelines. Confirm that Contractor Safety Plans are complete and updated to address COVID Safety Guidelines on each project site.
  • Confirm that Contractor is reporting all recordable injuries and near-miss incidents within the required timelines and by filing the proper forms. Review the report for accuracy before filing.
  • Review and provide comments to the Owner on the project-specific "Project Health, Safety & Environmental Plan" as prepared by the Owner or the Contractor.
  • Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate safety report for all site visits.
  • Identify site safety hazards and provide immediate direction to contractor safety representative to eliminate or mitigate them.
  • Participate in site inspections and testing as necessary for required permits, including confined space, hot work, trenching, etc.
  • Confirm that the New Hire Safety Orientation on-line safety training are available onsite.
  • Confirm that contractors are performing tailgate safety meetings and training as required by their Contract and/or OSHA requirements.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to present Owner's safety program and the role of the field safety representative. Provide comprehensive safety support and guidance for Project Team.
  • Maintain adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program's safety policy.
  • Conduct project safety stand-downs with all crews to review the incident for injuries. Educate all site workers on how to prevent a repeat accident.

Salary Range

$120,000 - $160,000 USD
