Position Description

Thompson Turner Construction is seeking a Safety Manager for various projects in the South Carolina area. Candidates must be comfortable with travel.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, State and Federal requirements.
• Reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
• Develop and implement safety programs.
• Conduct post-accident investigations and make recommendations.
• Communicate with injured employees and accompany them to medical treatment.
• Train employees on safety, new employee orientation, and other duties as assigned.
• Inspect work sites weekly and identify hazards or unsafe behaviors.
• Assist in pre-job/shutdown planning.
• Build relationships with working crews and customer contacts.
• Attend customer-sponsored safety meetings.
• Counsel/coach employees and inform supervisors of disciplinary actions.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive to jobsites throughout the state.
• Completed OSHA 30 certification.
• Additional training or certifications preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
• Basic math skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand, and reach repetitively.
• Some sites may require use of a respirator.
• May be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
