Responsibilities

  • Perform management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple projects sites.
  • Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Support to the Program Safety Manager, including attending required meetings and providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
  • Attend construction meetings with college project team and general contractor, leading the safety topic (toolbox), reporting on site observations (Observation Report), and reviewing upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness.
  • Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety reports for all site visits.
  • Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to College Project Manager.
  • Review contractor safety submittals, JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry and hazard assessment of other high-risk operations.
  • Review contractor submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare and submit lessons learned to Program Safety Manager.
  • Maintain monitoring of contractor safety representatives to ensure adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program's safety policy.
  • Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.
  • Communicate effectively with Owner's Construction Management staff and Contractor's Site Management Team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' of commercial construction experience in the US with a General Contractor.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in California with a Contractor or major subcontractor.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in construction of educational projects in a campus environment.
  • Strong experience managing field construction teams on multiple projects.
  • Experience on demolition, renovation, and new construction building projects.
  • Experience working on OCIP programs.
  • All certificates and credentials must be active and current for consideration: Minimum of holding a valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certificate or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or Certified Safety Manager construction (CSMC) certificate issued by the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP).
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and OSHA 500 (Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) - (include copy of certificate in resume package).
