Responsibilities
- Set expectations and provide structure around site safety with superintendent and subcontractors
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of superintendent around knowledge, create site specific programs when necessary and train accordingly
- Ensure the safety, training and development of Shawmut staff and subcontractors to understand identify and reduce risks in a fast paced construction environment from pre-construction through close-out
- Raise awareness of potential hazards that exist on a jobsite with owner by reviewing what can be done to minimize risk
- Conduct regular safety audits throughout the duration of a project assessing all safety related issues and follow up with the project team
- Communicate directly with subcontractors to discuss concerns and Shawmut's expectations
- Identify poor performing subs by reviewing past performance and work with project executives and project managers to establish a plan to improve
- Maintain the information technology and systems that are essential to capture and analyze key data, present reporting and communicate effectively
- Develop and maintaining strong relationships with every member of the project team, subcontractors and clients
- Raise awareness of potential hazards that exist in the new building with Owner by reviewing with him/her what the hazards are and what can be done to minimize/prevent them
- Train Shawmut staff and subcontractors on topics such as OSHA certification (10 & 30 hour), First Aid, construction specific requirements and new standards review
- Hold all parties accountable for safety violations

Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in construction safety management
- NYC DOB Licensed Safety Manager is a requirement
- Experience with large projects
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction standards, NYC DOB, and FDNY Safety Codes
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related experience preferred
- OSHA 500 trainer preferred
- Capable of delivering all other compliance-based training, including First Aid, CPR, and Life Safety
- Must reside in the tri-state area
