Safety Manager

About the Role

The Safety Manager cultivates a safety-conscious culture on assigned projects, including subcontractor compliance. They ensure all stakeholders are aware of potential hazards and precautionary safety measures through proactive support, training, and mentoring. This role works closely with the entire project team, subcontractors, and other onsite parties to ensure each worker returns home safely each day. Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and promote a "safety starts with me" culture.
• Assist Superintendents and Project Managers in developing Job Hazard Analyses and safe work plans to address hazards.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend controls for hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities.
• Lead the project team in implementing site-specific safety programs, risk assessments, and emergency action procedures.
• Conduct site-specific orientation training for all onsite staff and subcontractors.
• Ensure proper project start-up, including posting jobsite labor and safety posters, signage, etc.
• Submit site safety inspections with reports and document all incidents (injuries, violations, near misses, unsafe conditions).
• Lead incident analysis focusing on root causes and lessons learned.
• Accompany OSHA compliance officers and insurance inspectors during on-site audits.
• Evaluate subcontractor qualifications, training programs, and competency, providing recommendations to project management.
• Assist in developing and managing the project safety budget(s).
• Evaluate project safety performance and provide guidance on trends, corrective actions, and loss rates.
• Collaborate with Corporate and Regional Safety Directors on company safety policies and procedures.
• Facilitate specific safety training and prepare for site-specific pre-construction meetings.
• Attend ESH departmental meetings and demonstrate skills validated by the competency checklist.
• Adhere to Rogers-O’Brien policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in safety management or a related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Certificate.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, PowerPoint).
• 3+ years of experience in a safety role, preferably in construction.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal OSHA requirements, as well as Rogers-O’Brien Construction requirements.
• Understanding of Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) principles.

Preferred: Experience in Advanced Manufacturing.
